The snow under your skis has a history. WinterScience brings together reconstructed mountain weather, our AI-driven Stratos ensemble forecast, and detailed snowpack simulations to help you understand how conditions developed and what may come next.

RECONSTRUCTING WHAT HAPPENED We combine radar, weather-station observations, and model data to build a detailed picture of recent mountain weather. Follow when precipitation arrived, how snow levels changed, and the wind and temperature shifts that shaped the snow. This reconstructed history also supplies the weather that drives our snowpack models, connecting past storms to today's conditions.

STRATOS: OUR AI-DRIVEN ENSEMBLE FORECAST WinterScience Stratos uses 50 ensemble members plus a control run to explore possible weather outcomes. Those different forecasts help describe the range of conditions ahead and where the model runs agree or differ. Follow rain, snow, temperature, wind, and snow levels at mountain elevations, and compare Stratos with other models including ECMWF, GFS, and HRRR.

OVER 200,000 SNOWPACK MODELS We run over 200,000 snowpack simulations across the Western U.S. using SLF SNOWPACK. These physics-based models track individual snow layers as they settle, warm, cool, melt, and change over time. Reconstructed weather builds the recent snowpack; forecast weather extends it into the days ahead.

Explore layer hardness, grain types, and density. Compare wind loading and modeled ski conditions at base, mid, and summit elevations across eight slope aspects. Inspect a snow profile or read a snow report to understand how the weather is changing the mountain's snow.

FREE ACCESS AND MEMBERSHIP Recent weather history and current and recent snowpack are available free. Eligible accounts receive a seven-day forecast trial. Annual membership provides continued access to future weather and snowpack forecasts and regional outlooks. Your membership works on iOS and the web when you sign in to the same WinterScience account.

Subscriptions purchased in the app are billed through your Apple Account and renew automatically unless canceled. Manage or cancel renewal in your Apple Account subscription settings.
