User Reviews

Users praise Fictivity for AO3 integration, progress tracking, and audio reading features with reasonable pricing, but report reliability problems (crashes, slow loads) and login issues, along with paywall limits that restrict features unless paying.
Pros
  • Seamless AO3 integration with progress tracking and auto-resume.
  • Audio features for reading aloud (text-to-speech).
  • Syncs with AO3 bookmarks and saved items.
  • Reasonable annual price / good value.
Cons
  • Frequent bugs and instability, including crashes and loading issues.
  • Login/sign-in problems or being kicked out of the app.
  • Paywall restrictions locking core features behind a subscription.

I can hardly stand to visit AO3 directly anymore. This app searches fics for me, lets me know when they update, allows me to follow authors, and makes it easy to comment without leaving its nice, clean interface. There are only a few places where I'd like to see improvements: better support for skins (some social media fics force me to visit the site), ability to follow specific series as well as authors, and--my fantasy feature--a way to export lists (collections or custom) for sharing recs with others. But even as is I think this is a woefully underhyped app and I tell everyone about it.

Simply put you can’t do anything without intense lag in the app anymore, I use fictivity because I hate reading on web and I have used fictivity since it was 3am and loved it, but now the lag is so horrendous I can’t even open a doc without having to wait 5 minutes for the app to respond. Might be time to switch apps.
