Wildtier-Sichtungen is a free app for reporting wildlife, dead animals, and hazards such as the oak processionary moth and poisoned bait in your area – and tracking them on a real-time map. No registration, no account, anonymous.
Find out instantly what has been reported near you – and warn others with just a few taps.
OAK PROCESSIONARY MOTH – REPORT AND WARN
Report active caterpillars, processions, or old silk nests of the oak processionary moth and warn others about the toxic stinging hairs, which can cause skin irritation and allergic reactions. Active reports stay visible for 90 days by default, old nests for up to a year. Other users can confirm a report with "Still there" or "Gone". The oak processionary moth map shows every find at a glance.
REPORT POISONED BAIT
Report poisoned bait and warn other dog and cat owners nearby. Reports stay visible for several days, and users in the surrounding area are automatically warned.
WILDLIFE IN REAL TIME
Spotted a wild animal? Report the sighting in less than ten seconds. The location is captured automatically, and your report appears on a clear map right away.
AUTOMATIC WARNINGS
You receive a push warning as soon as something is reported near you – even when the app is closed. Enable notifications selectively per species or for poisoned bait, and set your own warning radius.
ASF EARLY WARNING
Dead wild boar are an important early indicator of African swine fever (ASF). Every reported carcass feeds a public early-warning system and helps residents and authorities respond early. Other dead finds can be marked the same way.
HEDGEHOG MONITORING
The hedgehog has been on the Red List of endangered species since 2024. Report hedgehog observations – alive, injured, or dead. All hedgehog sightings are collected on a dedicated analysis map.
GET WARNED ON THE GO (OPTIONAL)
Turn on background updates once in the settings, and your warnings automatically follow your current location – without opening the app. Optional, off by default, can be switched off at any time, and battery-friendly.
SUPPORTED SPECIES
Wild boar, roe deer, fallow deer, red deer, moose, mouflon, wolf, fox, golden jackal, raccoon, marten, nutria, beaver, badger, hedgehog, and pheasant.
The app is continuously being developed – more species and additional warnings are added regularly.
WHO IS THE APP FOR?
For walkers, dog owners, families, nature lovers, and anyone who wants to know which wild animals are moving around their area.
The more people take part, the more useful the map becomes for everyone. Become part of a growing citizen-science network – every sighting counts.
