Your Voice Matters

This app is part of a new research study from Priory and Peak Profiling that explores how the way we speak could help detect depression and other mental health conditions.

Research shows that biomarkers; features like tone, rhythm, and speech patterns hold valuable information about mental wellbeing. Our aim is to train a secure algorithm that can identify signs of depression through voice analysis. This could lead to a future where detecting mental health concerns is as simple and non-invasive as checking your temperature.

How it works:

Current Priory patients can download the app and register to submit short voice recordings each week (up to 5 recordings total).

• Record your voice once a week for up to 5 weeks. • Voice tasks include: • Counting from 1 to 10 • Describing a picture • Talking about your week • Complete short wellbeing questionnaires (PHQ-9, GAD-7). • Recordings take just 2–3 minutes per week.

Participation is:

• Quick • Voluntary • Anonymous (your identity is protected via pseudonymisation) • Secure (all data is encrypted and stored to high standards)
