User Reviews

Reviews consistently praise Elpis for its gorgeous visuals, music, and engaging combat with strong character design. However, the Global version’s rewards are notably nerfed versus JP/CN, leading to slow progression and pay-to-win concerns. Unit rarity changes and balance shifts, coupled with a complex UI and slow energy pacing, reduce accessibility. A lack of clear explanations for regional adjustments adds mistrust about monetization, despite the game’s aesthetic and core gameplay appeal.
Pros
  • Stunning visuals and soundtrack with beautiful art, design, and music.
  • Engaging core gameplay and combat with a strong emphasis on story and character designs.
Cons
  • Global rewards are significantly reduced compared to JP/CN, slowing progression and creating a pay-to-win impression.
  • Rarity/balance changes that make strong units harder to obtain and upgrade, perceived as anti-player.
  • Overly complex UI and progression with many branching pathways that complicate onboarding and navigation.
  • Slow resource pacing and gating (energy/gems) that hamper progression and grind efficiency.
  • Lack of transparency about regional changes and the reasons for nerfs or adjustments.

Looks like the greedy devs killed this game before it could even launch

This game is visually and sonically beautiful, but I'm dumping it because it's just way, way too complicated. It's impossible for me to find my way around in it because there are just too many pathways leading into pathways leading into pathways...and another shortcoming is that there's no character development. I can't exactly put my finger on why, but in, for example, Pixel Saga: Squad RPG (my current favorite game), each champion has a distinct identity in my mind – I can tell every one from every other one. In this game, I just collect tons of characters and aside from slight differences in their appearance, they're all basically the same to me. This may be largely because there are just so many of them. Landing a high tier character doesn't seem very special because you land a lot of them, and, for me, at least, there's not much to distinguish one from another. So between these two marks against the game, I'm deleting it from my phone. Kind of a shame, because the artwork and the music are so beautiful, but the sheer complexity of the game/UI in particular is a big turn off for me, so away I go…
