User Reviews

Ex Astris is lauded for its visuals, story, music, and premium, feature-rich turn-based JRPG feel at a reasonable price. However, it faces notable drawbacks: it currently lacks controller support, experiences stability and compatibility issues on newer iOS/iPadOS versions with loading/crash problems, often requires an internet connection for login (limiting offline play), and has a steep learning curve due to many game systems. If the developers address controller support and platform stability, it could become a standout mobile RPG, especially for players seeking a premium experience without gacha mechanics.
Pros
  • Beautiful world with high-quality graphics and art direction
  • Compelling story with immersive music and atmosphere
  • Deep, feature-rich turn-based combat with no gating by microtransactions
  • Reasonable one-time purchase price offering strong value
Cons
  • No controller support currently, limiting accessibility for many players
  • Stability and compatibility issues on newer iOS/iPadOS builds (loading screens, crashes, freezes)
  • Requires internet connection to login, reducing offline play options
  • Steep learning curve due to the number of game systems and mechanics

[Edit 2: If you’re stuck at the start game loading screen, my only solution was to reinstall. Resource download and shader compiler load bar may not be showing, but it didn’t matter how long I waited. A fresh reinstall fixed the issue so I can play again, no update needed. Be sure to back up your saves via cloud going forward, if you haven’t. I still stand by my 5 star rating btw, game’s awesome] (Edit: game gets stuck at intro loading screen after iOS 26, so needs an update to work.) It’s been great playing this. Be aware, as of writing this, controller support isn’t available. However, the game is designed with its interactions for touch only. Sure, maybe it could be added, but the game plays well without it. The story and gameplay are a lot of fun, and the price is very reasonable considering its high quality. I really hope I get to play more games by this developer, because this is quickly becoming one of my favorite paid mobile games, especially for a one-time purchase. Definitely give it a play if you like turn-based jrpgs

This game is a rare find on mobile platforms. It features a beautiful world, a good story, high quality graphics, and fun gameplay. It feels like it should be a gacha game similar to Honkai Star Rail but it’s not. This game feels almost too good to be true, definitely worth a shot!
