User Reviews
Pros
- Real musicians on the tracks provide an authentic, world-class jazz feel.
- High-quality audio and a tight, swingy rhythm section that sounds like a live NYC gig.
- Excellent practice features: loop sections, isolate drums/bass/piano, adjust tempo and pitch, and transpose tunes.
- Rich educational content: tune histories, chord changes explanations, and substitutions that explain why changes are used.
- Growing, well-curated library with ongoing updates from top NYC players.
Cons
- Library is currently small/limited; only a subset of tunes available (around 48 tunes cited), with a desire for more content.
- Pricing/value concerns: subscription is worthwhile mainly if the library continues to expand; some reviewers feel the price is high without sufficient content or a trial.

In terms of play-alongs these are probably some of the better ones available. But at a certain point, why not just put on a record and play along to that? Sure, these guys that recorded for this app are good, but they’re not Philly Joe/PC/Red Garland good, or McCoy/Jimmy/Elvin good. This is the perfect app for simulating what it feels like to play a weeknight club gig in NYC.
The records will always be the real thing, play-alongs are never going to simulate that.

The quality and dynamic feel of the tracks are so far beyond other play along apps that I just want to learn every song here. The tracks build and vary over each chorus, often with tag endings and other interesting devices. Each tune is meticulously researched. The musicians are phenomenal —you’re truly playing with a world class jazz combo. The library is somewhat small now, but they add new tunes all the time. Is it worth the subscription? As long as they keep adding songs then 100% yes.

you’re playing along with real musicians who have played these tunes hundreds of times. that means that the tunes actually feel like what they’re supposed to feel like. Has the added benefit of being laser focused on the tunes that are being called at jams today
