This reader does everything I want! I would really love to see an option to change the font size of the dictionary popup; I can get the font of the book large enough but then I have to squint to see the hiragana for pronouncing kanji I don't know, etc. Edit: I'm having a bug recently with the reader losing my page Every time I close the app, and the bookmarks feature isn't working. This is very frustrating.

Shiori Reader has been a godsend for me in my Japanese reading journal. Smartphones and iPads didn’t exist when I started learning Japanese and I dreamed of a reading assistant that could give me the tools to read and learn Japanese faster. Other eBook apps have their own pros but they all suffer from the same problems for foreign language learners - dictionaries that are lacking, translation menus that pop up in weird places that make them unusable, clunky highlighting, and notes and highlighting features that don’t reload properly, inconsistent bookmarking, etc. Shiori solves all of those problems and makes a quick tap to see a translation so easy and consistent. The text and background offers all colors so you can customize your UI. There’s also an Anki integration that I haven’t fully explored but it looks promising. This app changed my life.

Solid app for learning and reading Japanese. The latest update cleaned up a lot of the jankiness and introduced more quality of life. Anki integration looks like it’s only for the anki app. Would recommend to anyone learning Japanese. I wish there was a way to add folders in the library to organize books.
