User Reviews

Across many reviews, users view AcuRite NOW as a clear downgrade from the old My AcuRite app. They report far less information and data visibility, harder navigation, and frequent stability issues. A dominant concern is the loss of sensor labeling, with multiple sensors appearing under generic names, making it difficult to identify readings. Users also dislike the move to paid subscriptions for Weather Underground data and the inability to export data. Critical data and features that existed before—sunrise/sunset, highs/lows, lightning data, wind details—are missing, along with limited cross-device management. Overall, frustration and plans to switch brands are common.
Pros
Cons
  • Downgrade from the old My AcuRite app: NOW provides less information and data visibility, and has harder navigation with stability issues.
  • Inability to name/edit sensors: multiple sensors appear with generic names, making it hard to identify readings.
  • Subscription/paywall for Weather Underground and data access: free data sharing removed and exporting data is not possible; some data requires paid subscription.
  • Poor usability and stability: app freezes, requires many taps to reach basic data, and charts are hard to interpret or misbehave.
  • Missing key data/features: sunrise/sunset, highs/lows, lightning data, wind details, elevation, and other previously available data/features are absent.

I have multiple temperature/humidity sensors all over the house. There’s no way in the app to name them or tell which is which.

The app initially looks a little better than the old one but under the hood it needs work. The forecast data must not use the same source as the old app because it’s not the same information. The charting no longer gives a rainfall total, just a graph line that you apparently have to add up all the data points to get a total. The other charts don’t show highs and lows, just a chart line. You have to click on what you think is the peak chart line to see the number itself. It needs to remember my choices, and the initial screen should default to the last hub I chose. The charts need to default to the last metric I chose. The detail arrow under the current conditions needs to default to how I left it so I can see details right away without clicking the arrow again. The old app was never a barn burner, but the new one is worse. Apparently beta testing or using the app themselves prior to launching it is not an option. Hopefully they’ll fix it or let the old one remain an option.

Perfect example of taking something that worked awesome, make a new app and have a worthless tool. Just terrible.
