User Reviews

Users praise the app for easy setup and reliable, real-time local weather data across multiple stations. However, it suffers from a confusing UI with removed quick access to graphs, paywalled historical data, setup/connectivity and account management hassles, occasional data inaccuracies, and inconsistent customer support. The core data quality is strong, but usability and access experience are inconsistent.
Pros
  • Easy to set up and easy to use.
  • Reliable and accurate weather data from Ambient Weather stations.
  • Real-time/local weather data accessible (live readings, including cabin temperature).
  • Supports monitoring multiple stations/locations and viewing data for different places.
Cons
  • UI/UX is unintuitive and changes reduce quick access to graphs (eg, removing the bottom graph button and requiring more taps).
  • Graphing/historical data are gated behind a subscription, reducing free access to useful information.
  • Setup/connectivity/account management issues (difficulty connecting the weather station, inability to change home location, login/navigation problems).
  • Occasional data problems (inaccurate rain readings) and sporadic server issues.
  • Customer support responsiveness seen as poor (e.g., phone support not returning calls).

Why did they take the “wind chill” option off?

July 2026. Data that was available with the original purchase and was advertised as such is now behind a paywall. This simply isn’t right! As a gardener I rely on monthly rain totals and this information being available to me is why I purchased this particular system. So going back on the original agreement simply isn’t right and needs to be dealt with by reporting this behavior to the consumer protection agency. Greed is the enemy of the consumer. The app stopped working after the update one week ago. I notified Ambient Weather about the problem, app will initiate the logo pops up then it goes to white screen and stays there. But no one has responded. I’ve read that others have had this issue as well. The station works and the app works on my iPad but it’s really more convenient to use the app on my iPhone. My iPhone has plenty of memory and a strong internet connection. The company should have responded by now. A week is just unacceptable given the price of the weather station. Also, the lighting detector is almost useless at all settings. I’ve tried multiple settings on the Reddit page but none works for me. The best setting I found is hit or miss. I got 67 strikes when a major storm hit then the next day two large strikes hit directly over my house but the detector didn’t catch them. That’s an expensive device that I really regret buying. There’s also a bit of deception from the company involving being able to use the desktop to track the information from the station. In the pictures on the site it shows all three devices, phone, tablet and computer as usable for tracking but you’ll need to pay extra to use it on your computer. In hindsight I think I would have gone with a different system.
