User Reviews

User reviews consistently praise Focus Friend for helping ADHD users stay focused and reduce phone time through a charming, gamified bean world. Its visually rewarding decorations, reliable focus blocking, and free feature set are common highlights, with widgets and live activities added in updates. The main downsides are audio-related annoyances (music not resuming, deep focus glitches and Spotify restrictions), disruptive notifications, and a few usability gaps (no pause for sessions, early-stop progress not counted). Overall, a motivating, well-loved tool with room for refinement.
Pros
  • Helps ADHD users focus and reduces time spent on distracting apps.
  • Gamified visuals (bean, rooms, garden) provide motivation and a sense of progress.
  • Mostly free to use; features available without a subscription.
  • Blocking distractions works well, aiding study and deep work.
  • Regular updates and features, including widgets and live activities, keep it fresh.
Cons
  • Audio/music issues during and after focus sessions (music not resuming, deep focus glitches, and Spotify restrictions).
  • Ending a session early may not count toward progress and the end alert can be easy to miss.
  • Frequent notification prompts can disrupt focus.
  • No pause button for a session (a requested feature).
  • Some blocking/music restrictions (can't block certain apps or play music during deep focus).

Dang I thought I found the perfect app but now there’s a paywall for count-up :( I wish it could be free and it just stops at 2 hrs that was such a useful feature.

I have tried many study apps, and this one is simple while still being enough of a “game” to be motivating without being distracting. I love that it also has no advertisements

I love this app! It comes in handy when Im struggling to focus but even when Im focusing fine Ill turn it on so I earn socks (their currency) so I can decorate! Its fun. Not a money trap either, though you can get premium. I wish everything wasn’t so hard to unlock without premium though. Still very helpful!
