User Reviews

TrainWise is praised for strong, Sean-led programs and a rich tutorial library with a clean interface and supportive community. However, recurring bugs hurt reliability—crashing, data loss, and messy exercise history—along with limited customization and feature gaps (notes, rest timers, nutrition tools). Overall, it offers solid programming quality and education, but stability and feature completeness need improvement to unlock its full potential.
Pros
  • Sean's training programs are high-quality, well-structured, and provide clear progression with no-nonsense guidance.
  • Extensive library of exercise tutorials and clear form demos (100+ tutorials, video guides).
  • Clean, intuitive interface and overall design that helps users follow plans and track progress.
  • Supportive community and transparent updates from the team (e.g., Discord activity and responsiveness).
Cons
  • Major bugs causing crashes, saving failures, and corrupted or lost workout history (exercises being overwritten or deleted).
  • Inconsistent data tracking and history integrity (weights/reps from one exercise appearing on another, zero-exercises saved).
  • Limited customization and features (no notes on sets/exercises, few replacement options, no rest timer, limited nutrition/tools).
  • Pricing concerns and lack of a trial or clear value justification.
Recent reviews
I’ve been using TrainWise for about a year now, and overall it’s been great. I mainly followed the 2 Minimal Program, which has been especially beneficial for me while balancing nursing school. It’s simple, efficient, and easy to stay consistent with. The support system on Discord is also a big plus. The team is responsive and transparent—whenever issues come up with the app, they communicate updates and let users know they’re actively working on improvements. That said, the app does have some bugs. For example, updating a workout split doesn’t always reflect across the entire cycle. Adding exercises to a specific workout day can be inconsistent, and logging weights and sets sometimes affects other exercises. There are also times when a completed workout doesn’t save properly—it may show “0 exercises completed” even after finishing and saving the session. My biggest drawback is that the app relies heavily on an internet connection. At my gym, the signal is poor, so logging workouts can take a long time to save, which can be frustrating. Despite that, I still really like the app. The workout splits are well-designed, and each exercise comes with a straightforward, no-BS guide from Sean. The programs effectively target the right muscle groups and cut out unnecessary fluff. I would definitely recommend this app to lifters of all levels, from casual to more advanced.

Dont get me weong I like Sean a lot and his videos and workout plans helped out a lot. But the biggest problem with the app is it constantly deletes or overwrites previous exercises. I probably wont use the app again after my year is up unless its fixed.
