User Reviews

Puzzle Town Mysteries offers an engaging Haiku-style storyline with recurring characters and a solid set of logic puzzles across chaptered cases, good for short play sessions. However, reviewers repeatedly cite pay-to-play frictions (hard-to-earn stars/coins, paywalls, ads) and a puzzle–story disconnect, with many wanting more interactive deduction rather than passive scenes. The new style diverges from classic Haiku and is seen as thinner in depth and replay value. Content is finite and there are some technical issues. Overall, strong concept hampered by monetization, pacing, and design choices.
Pros
  • Engaging storyline with recurring characters (Lana and Barry) and a chaptered case structure.
  • Varied logic-based puzzles that start easy and increase in difficulty.
  • Chapter-based play sessions and a star system that lets you stock up and progress at your own pace.
  • High production quality and consistency with Haiku Games.
  • Strong interest in more cases, indicating solid engagement.
Cons
  • Puzzles often feel disconnected from the investigation and rely on screen tapping rather than true deduction.
  • Monetization frictions: stars/coins are hard to obtain, with paywalls and ads.
  • The new Haiku style is viewed as a departure from the classic, with less depth and character.
  • Content is finite; after released cases, there’s little to do.
  • Technical issues such as gold pass purchase errors and timing-related free-play restrictions.
Recent reviews
Wish stars and coins were easier to obtain.

This game is awful compared to other games by this developer. I really dislike how the puzzles are not at all related to the story and you only do the puzzles to spend on stars to complete story actions. There is no logic or deduction involved in solving the mysteries or interacting with the environment of the story, it’s just a story with irrelevant repetitive puzzles that you need to complete to watch it play out. Disappointing but still I’ll look forward to the next games that Haiku releases
