User Reviews

Overall, users praise Jolt for effective, smooth blocking and mindfulness benefits, a free feature set, and a user-friendly, gamified design. However, recurring bugs and reliability problems, intermittent blocking failures, a frustrating unblock flow, and inconsistent daily resets temper the experience.
Pros
  • Blocking is smooth and dependable
  • Increases awareness of daily phone use and promotes mindful, productive habits
  • Gamified system with limits and a cooldown period that helps adherence
  • Free to use with many features (no upfront paywall)
  • Clean, easy-to-use interface (better than built-in features)
Cons
  • Bugs and reliability issues (crashes, freezing, and data not updating)
  • Blocking can be unreliable and sometimes not enforce limits (time left still allows access)
  • Unclear or frustrating unblock flow (redirects and repetitive prompts) that hampers usage
  • Daily reset/time management issues (reset doesn't happen as expected or causes loops)

I just did the premium subscription and I can already tell it is going to be well worth the money. I do wish there was a way to do an unscheduled session. Like if something lands in front of you that you need to focus on you can just start a session that lasts an hour or two without having to create a recurring schedule.

Hard Mode used to be free. Now it’s locked behind a paywall. Unfortunately, I will be uninstalling, as this completely defeats the purpose of the sessions. If you are struggling to focus, a few quick games aren’t going to stop you from accessing a problem app. Let me know when you fix this.
