Users value PlayStation Family for making parental controls and playtime management easier on mobile, with quick taps and instant PS5 updates and the ability to manage restrictions remotely. However, the app suffers from stability and reliability problems (crashes and startup failures), frequent login/authentication friction, restrictive account-management requirements (child accounts needed, hard to remove/adjust), and various UI glitches. Overall, it’s praised for control and convenience but hampered by significant stability and design issues that affect everyday use.

Recent reviews

Playtime will not remember previously set schedules if you attempt to turn off a schedule for a short period of time. You have to manually go back in and reset all your scheduled time. Cannot extend time for playtime temporarily, even though there is a button intended to do this. Disappointing work from a large, well-funded, company.

The PlayStation family app is one of the absolute worst apps of all time it is pretty much useless with how un friendly it is to operate as mentioned @jjbreezybird said in his review. It takes forever to set up all of the settings and then there is no way to save them, you turn off playtime limit for one minute and ope there goes everything no saved settings everything gone and not to mention how useless all of the settings your either all in or all out. If I had a nickel for every time this app gave me problems, I’d be a millionaire. All it does is waste space on your phone and make my kid unhappy with how all of the settings have no breathing room. I feel bad because if he wants more time it’s a tedious process of adding time and subtracting later. PlayStation if you see this, you need to up your game. One of the worst family manager apps ever made - so glad it’s free 🙄
