HOME THEATER CONTROLLER US lets you operate select Yamaha home theater systems from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch via Bluetooth. It provides basic controls (volume up/down, input selection and mode changes) as well as auto/manual sound beam adjustment (YSP-2500) and precise beam tuning (YSP-1400, SRT-1000). Surround mode options are available beyond the included remote.

Supported models include YAS-108, ATS-1080, YAS-207, ATS-2070, YAS-107, ATS-1070, ATS-1520, ATS-1030, ATS-1050, ATS-1060, YAS-152, YAS-103, YAS-203, YAS-105, YAS-106, YSP-1400, YSP-2500, SRT-1000, SRT-700, SBS-100, HTY-250, YRS-1500, YRS-2500. iOS 9+ is required and a Bluetooth connection must be active. Privacy note: Google Analytics is used to collect product usage and basic app data for development; no personal data is transferred externally.

User reviews are split: when the Home Theater Controller app connects, it can be convenient, adding in-app volume control and extra settings beyond the remote. However, a large pattern emerges: the app is unstable. Many users report crashes or that the app stops working after updates, frequent Bluetooth connection failures, and the need to repeatedly reconnect. A particularly common pain point is the app getting stuck in demo mode, cycling through demo screens and not exposing real controls. Overall, reliability is inconsistent across Yamaha models (ATS-1080, YAS-108, YAS-207, etc.), making long-term use frustrating despite occasional positive experiences.

Stopped working on ios26 update :(

The App works great as far as using the soundbar (ATS-1080) with my tv. It would be nicer if it was a little smarter; you have to go into the app and change the sound mode (movie, music, etc) manually if that matters to you. I can control the volume with my tv remote when the source is TV. However when the source is Bluetooth I can only control the volume with this app or the soundbar remote. I’d like to be able to control the volume with the connected device/app so I don’t need to bounce between different apps and controls; in my case a Yamaha receiver (using the MusicCast app).
