User Reviews

GymBook is lauded for its clean UI, easy logging, and a one-time purchase model with no ads. Users value its reliability and standalone Apple Watch support with cross-device use. However, recurring concerns center on data saving/backups reliability, weight-entry usability, occasional update-induced bugs, watchOS limitations, and a missing CSV import feature.
Pros
  • Easy to log workouts and add exercises with a clean, intuitive UI.
  • One-time purchase with no ongoing subscription; great value and lifetime access.
  • No ads and privacy-friendly design; straightforward, minimal interface.
  • Works well standalone on Apple Watch and supports cross-device use (Garmin/Strava integration).
  • Reliable, long-term performance and a strong track record of updates and support.
Cons
  • Data saving/backups can be unreliable (iCloud transfer gaps and occasional log loss; manual uploads sometimes needed).
  • Weight-entry UX needs improvement (no typing; weight carryover between sets could be automatic).
  • Occasional breakages after updates (recent version reportedly breaks logging).
  • Limited watchOS integration (no ability to add to a watch stack; widget limitations).
  • No CSV/workout import feature; feature requests for importing workouts.

This app, for the crazy low one time fee, is amazing. It tracks everything I do, allows me to change my routine mid-workout, build my own exercise and customize the UI! Using this app I have been able to focus my routine and lose 40 lbs while adding muscle mass! I tell everyone I see, I would wear GymBook gear and be sponsored everyday I go to the gym, which is 6 days a week.

All of the exercises and features being added are cool I guess, but I can add my own exercises if I want to, so I guess I’d rather have more practical features like more workout notification options and for the workout calories to be remotely close to accurate.
