User Reviews

GymBook is lauded for its clean UI, easy logging, and a one-time purchase model with no ads. Users value its reliability and standalone Apple Watch support with cross-device use. However, recurring concerns center on data saving/backups reliability, weight-entry usability, occasional update-induced bugs, watchOS limitations, and a missing CSV import feature.
Pros
  • Easy to log workouts and add exercises with a clean, intuitive UI.
  • One-time purchase with no ongoing subscription; great value and lifetime access.
  • No ads and privacy-friendly design; straightforward, minimal interface.
  • Works well standalone on Apple Watch and supports cross-device use (Garmin/Strava integration).
  • Reliable, long-term performance and a strong track record of updates and support.
Cons
  • Data saving/backups can be unreliable (iCloud transfer gaps and occasional log loss; manual uploads sometimes needed).
  • Weight-entry UX needs improvement (no typing; weight carryover between sets could be automatic).
  • Occasional breakages after updates (recent version reportedly breaks logging).
  • Limited watchOS integration (no ability to add to a watch stack; widget limitations).
  • No CSV/workout import feature; feature requests for importing workouts.

No gross social feature, up there with HealthFit and WorkOutDoors for the running of GOAT stats based work out apps. CLEAN AESTHETIC!!

Recommend to all. Easy set up and use. The log and history tabs are a great way to track and see your progress. The customer support team is very responsive and friendly. The only issue I have is the auto backup to the icloud, all the data after a group session workout does not transfer, i.e. 5 exercises in a group session and all but the info for the last exercise uploaded or everything uploaded but the last set in that last exercise. I’ve had 5 exercises and only 2 uploaded. The fix to get everything uploaded is for me to manually upload the workout manually on my phone so I can keep my iPad current.
