On-Device AI: Private Agent Apple

On-Device AI: Private Agent

AI Voice, TTS & Knowledge

Features & Capabilities

On-Device AI combines private, on-device models with voice-first workflows. It supports Qwen3-ASR, Nemotron Speech, Parakeet STT, and PocketTTS for natural speech, letting you chat, transcribe, and listen offline by default. Build and manage knowledge libraries, export transcripts, and run local models like Llama, Gemma, and Phi.

With web research, active tools, and adjustable agent workflows, you can fork conversations, create subagents for research or writing, and switch models as your task evolves. It integrates with Apple devices through Shortcuts, Siri, and Vision Pro support, keeping data private by default while offering cloud options only when you choose.

User Reviews

Users praise On-Device AI for its broad, powerful feature set, offline/local operation, and support for many models and multi-agent workflows, plus strong web search and cross-device use. The app is seen as easy to set up and generally fast, with good privacy thanks to on-device processing. However, recurring complaints point to stability issues (crashes with large models or contexts, boot-time crashes) and persistent UI/UX drawbacks (scattered settings, lack of a manual). Functionality gaps repeatedly noted include exporting whole chats, inconsistent search behavior, and limits in client/local-server integration. Some users also question pricing transparency and battery/thermal impact on devices.
Pros
  • Extensive feature set with a wide range of models and flexible offline/local operation, including support for running large models via Mac LM Studio.
  • Built-in web search and deep information retrieval within chats.
  • Multi-agent / character support enabling creative, role-playing conversations.
  • Strong privacy and cross-device experience thanks to on-device processing and syncing across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Vision Pro.
  • Easy setup and generally fast performance with a polished UI that improves over time.
Cons
  • Stability issues: crashes when sending prompts, with large contexts or large models, and occasional boot-time crashes.
  • Clunky UI/UX with settings scattered, lack of a manual, and learning curve.
  • Feature gaps: cannot export an entire chat, inconsistent or slow web search, and limited client/local-server integration (localhost/IP issues).
  • High resource usage on devices, leading to battery drain and overheating in some devices like iPad.
  • Pricing transparency concerns and some fees for advanced features, plus complaints about paid audio transcriptions and overall pricing policy.

voice mode button still not working, you still can't export a whole chat, only one answer at a time... this is bs. unusable. it's a joke!

Excellent implementation of features and very robust. This app is more advanced than most which allows you to do so many neat things. Highly recommend to pay the small fee and unlock everything
