User Reviews

Users see Focusrite Control 2 as a handy, workflow-boosting remote for Scarlett interfaces, especially when it connects. It can control headphone mixes, mic levels, and monitor routing and integrates with Logic Remote. However, many reviews highlight reliability and compatibility issues across iOS, macOS, and hardware generations, plus missing UI features like remembering the last mix or naming mixes. When connection is stable, the app is praised for sound and usefulness; overall stability and broad compatibility remain the main concerns.
Pros
  • Reliable connectivity and easy pairing for some users.
  • Remotely control headphone mixes, monitor levels and mic levels without a separate mixer.
  • Integrates with DAWs/remote apps (e.g., Logic Remote) to enhance workflow.
  • When it works, users praise sound quality and overall usability.
Cons
  • Frequent connection/pairing problems across iOS and macOS, with users reporting trouble connecting, staying connected, or pairing.
  • Compatibility limitations with hardware generations and platforms (older/newer Scarlett models, iPad vs Mac, some generations not supported).
  • UI/UX gaps and feature requests (remembering last mix, naming mixes, channel labeling, and headphone-volume control).
  • Occasional crashes or instability reported by some users.

For basic stereo control, it’s fine. But for multi-channel audio, (MCA) it’s useless. Problem 1: The app can’t be oriented horizontally. That’s totally unacceptable. For those of us working in MCA, we need quick visualization reference of our channels. Horizontal allows more real estate. Problem 2: The monitoring tab of the app still only gives you one knob. You get these options for control: a master knob, mute, dim, main and alt. The alt mix still only gives you a single master knob. No virtual control for each channel. Why? Seriously…why? Why engineer and manufacture an interface capable of MCA and develop such a lackluster virtual controller? How does this make any sense? When I compare this to Audient’s ORIA MCA controller app, I can’t help but wonder what went wrong. I don’t want to go to my mix tab to “control” my channels since I’m not mixing. I want to “control”. I do my mixes ITB and with real control surfaces. I use Icon’s Pro G2 and two EX G2’s. If the interface itself had output control, that would be fine. In-fact, I’d prefer that over an app. But, no such control on the unit. So, no output channel control on the unit and no output controls in the app. Why not a simple 5.1 and 7.1 template with 6 or 8 corresponding buttons? Is Focusrite telling us in 2026 that they can’t virtualize SPL’s SMC? Adding these features to the app would really give Focusrite a massive, hard to refuse edge as incentiveware over MOTU and other competitors. Especially UA. Hey Focusrite, it would be in yours and the users best interest to make this happen in a matter of a few hours or two days tops. I’m not asking for physical buttons on the interface. That requires a whole new device with R&D, schematics, new costs, etc. No! Just asking for a decent virtual controller to…you know, match what your hardware can already do! 😒So here is all that’s needed in the monitoring section: These are simple virtual buttons btw: -Mute all -dim -Mono LS/RS -Mono L/R -Stereo mix -Surround mix -L -C -R -LS -RS -LFE -giant knob Hope to see this happen. Hope to see such an awesome unit get the control it deserves.

Connects every time: 5 stars (it connects thought your router/wifi and your MacOS network, if you are having trouble it’s you, not them) This app means you can get away without a separate analogue mixer, control headphone mixies, monitor direct inputs, and set mic levels from across the room (like when behind my drum set) Between this and Logic Remote, I’m living in the future) But please, and you’ve heard this is a common request, and couldn’t be that hart to add to the next update (development pipeline be dammed): Remember the last mix we had selected when we last open the app!!! Seriously 😤 Naming mixes would be nice as well
