Review summary

Reviews praise Blok's concept and its ability to reduce screen time and boost focus, aided by the physical barrier. However, many users cite persistent timing and blocking glitches, device/card compatibility issues, and a costly subscription with paywall frustrations. Customer service quality is mixed, and fulfillment problems also recur. Overall, Blok can be life-changing for some, but reliability, price, and hardware limitations keep it from being consistently worth it for most.
Pros
  • Significantly reduces screen time and boosts productivity.
  • The physical Blok card/barrier is effective at limiting distraction.
  • The concept is powerful and can be life-changing for focus and study.
  • Customer support is responsive and helpful in many cases.
Cons
  • Expensive subscription with no free option; paywall concerns.
  • Scheduling and blocking are unreliable and frequently glitchy.
  • Hardware and device limitations: NFC/card read failures, and limited cross-device use.
  • Customer service issues, including rude responses and billing/cancellation problems.
  • Shipping/delivery delays and limited replacement options for hardware.

2026-07-14 ma***** Highly recommend. I’ve been using this app for about 8 months or so now. Initially, there were some technical issues that seemed to have been resolved. For example, I’d scan my Blok card and it either it didn’t work or some apps would still randomly be accessible. This no longer happens and it has been working very smoothly for me now. Love the schedule feature to customize it to your day. It’s so easy to get caught up in doomscrolling for hours and with every social media app following the model that TikTok has, it’s impossible to stay away from it without completely deleting all social media. This allows me to stay on the platforms I like but limit my time on them how I wish. I really enjoy the fact that I need a physical card to unlock the apps I want to access. It’s easy to travel with or leave somewhere inconvenient where you’ll be too lazy to go unlock it lol. Helped me with my phone addiction tremendously and I always feel so much better when my phone is Blokd. Whenever someone complains to me about their phone/scrolling problem, I always recommend this!!

2026-03-27 he***** decent premise of the product, definitely difficult at first to get used to but rewarding once you do my only thing is the rude customer service, which is a huge dealbreaker for me, good product or not. id stick to the product otherwise, but this turned me off from them entirely.

2026-03-22 Dr***** First issue: 1. It’s a paid subscription. I bought this thinking it was a one-time purchase, but it’s not; it’s $50 a year. 2. It doesn’t work on two devices at least that I’ve found. I bought this on my iPhone to help me with a shopping addiction and ordering out too much. I tried downloading it onto my iPad and signing in, but I got a message stating 'NFC not available on this device.' I looked up solutions, but none of them worked. So, this app is pretty much useless to me now, and I’m out $50.

2026-03-16 Ca***** I like blok. I genuinely do. However there are multiple things that really keep the product from competing with other similar items. The first one being: stop releasing or updating features before it’s guaranteed to work! The most egregious ones being reliable blocking and unblocking of apps as scheduled. That’s the bare minimum for the service, so why is it not working as expected? Why does blocking on a schedule not necessarily block the apps and why does the end of the time frame not always unblock the apps? Second example: why did the new update firstly break the timer feature? The old version made so much more sense interface wise, and more importantly, it works. If we as intelligent users cannot figure it out (given that an app update tutorial was not provided upon update, which should’ve happened given how many changes occurred), then it should be intuitive to use. Why is not blocking after I click yes? Thirdly: the app developer either needs to hire more people or reduce the cost. This is not a well finished product that should be selling for as high as it is. It’s a pet project designed to compete with Brick at best (down to the name), but it’s clearly the inferior product, from design to development to support. You’re telling me we’re paying $50+ for this tiny plastic NFC chip in this flimsy case which doesn’t even work if it’s on a magnetic surface (despite it being magnetic in design, which shouldn’t be the case if it interferes with usage)? Altogether, would not really recommend until the developer gets it together.

2026-02-11 Tr***** Love the concept, but frustrating when the Blok scanner isn’t detected when phone / Blok are contacted as specifically instructed. Wish I could rate it higher, but its only jobs are to keep you off apps (success! 5/5) and scan (occasionally unsuccessful, 3/5)

2026-02-03 cm***** This product is life changing when it works, but the schedule feature of the app works about half the time. Sometimes it doesn’t turn on, sometimes it doesn’t turn off. It used to work much better.

2026-01-10 An***** So I did buy a subscription, but I accidentally used a non-accessible account. Sure it works but I can’t cancel the membership. I’ll just keep getting charged. They cant cancel it on their end it has to be through an account. Just something that has to be fixed. And their customer service, rude, they ignored my problem, told me to never email again, and told me to basically suck it up. Terrible

2026-01-08 LO***** I’m trying to set up this card blokd right now and its buttons aren’t working. I find it funny it’s giving me the option to review before I even do anything yet.
