Features & Capabilities

The aim of the game is to reduce your level of drinking! Get your phone. Get your non-alcoholic fruit smoothie. Get your fight on.

Compete to cut back drinking, either on your own or with friends. Create a 4-12 week self or group challenge and experience the thrill of winning or the agony of a hangover. Track daily drinks and allow for some freebies along the way. Get weekly and final results to reveal how much un-drinking is happening. Earn rewards and possibly penalties for the challenges, set by the user who starts the challenge, AKA the bartender.

Reducing alcohol consumption can be fun! Yes, really.

And it’s all FREE! Unless you lose, and then you will be paying up to your friends.

The goal here is not sobriety, but simply less. It can be hard to change our daily habits, so we want to make what can be a grueling chore into a fun and engaging experience. Whether on your own or competing with your friends, you can still be a beer lover, wine connoisseur, and/or someone who can’t resist a good ole martini. You can enjoy alcohol, but with a little less consumption and a lot more enjoyment in the reduction process.

When you reduce drinking through Unboozle, there are many benefits you can experience:

  • Overall better health
  • More money in your pocket
  • Fewer pounds on your beer belly
  • Morning clarity
  • Bragging rights to your Unboozle group
  • Rewards from challenges

Reducing drinking is always a good idea. The difference with using Unboozle to cut back drinking is that the process doesn’t have to feel so meh. Most of us don’t want to give up alcohol completely, and that is not the plan here. Just reduction. We believe that the only thing you should give up is excess.

WHAT YOU GET: To support your un-drinking journey, Unboozle offers a simple and FREE gamified experience:

  1. Self or group challenges Go solo or invite your friends/family.

  2. Drinks tracker Track your daily drinks, which you not only use for the challenges but can also refer back to for keeping track of your consumption over time. You can also view your 'dry day' streaks stats to become inspired by your willpower or motivated by your lack thereof.

  3. Freebie drinks Every challenge has its own weekly ‘freebie’ drinks, set by the user who starts the challenge. Log in your drinks consumption and the freebies will automatically be deducted, depending on the details of each challenge. This is about reduction, not necessarily sobriety. You’re welcome.

  4. Group chat If you choose a group challenge, you can communicate with your group. Share some photos of the bottle of wine you drank last night that made it worth going over the week’s penalty drinks level, or give your group encouragement for when they drank milk instead of malt liquor.

  5. Weekly and final results You can see exactly where things stand, every week and at the end. This is a competition.

  6. Notifications Logging drinks doesn’t take much time, but it can be easy to forget. You can set the day(s) and time of your notifications to make sure that the 'default' drinks determined by the bartender is not added to your weekly total.

  7. Irreverent humor This is a game, not a medical plan. We want to make you smile.

Users must be of legal drinking age in their country of residence. If you think that you have an alcohol problem or medical emergency, this app might not apply to you.

User Reviews

I was enjoying the simplicity of this app. Basically a counter with the ability to invite friends - but less than a week in I can’t interact with it - I am prompted to give my phone number and then get an internal error message. Given that the goal is long-term data storage to see changes in behavior, I am a bit skeptical. I will delete and reinstall once , but that’s it

What a fun but effective way to reduce and keep track of drinking. It is so easy to overdo when not being accountable. My husband and I are enjoying this app!

This app has been great for me! My alcohol consumption goes up and down, and while I know l am not an alcoholic, I knew I needed to make some changes. I wasn’t looking for sobriety, but I wanted to drink less, and there isn’t much out there to help with that. I liked that the app looked fun, more like a game, and it is free so it seemed like a no-brainer. I initially started a self challenge, and very quickly I liked the self tracker for how it made me more aware of what I drink. And every day I get a hilarious notification about alcohol, which I especially enjoy. I recently also started a group challenge, and assuming everyone is staying honest, it has been a fun way to help each other. I guess more than anything it makes me think twice before I have that additional glass of wine, and I also feel better in knowing that others give in to temptation sometimes as well. So I really recommend this app if you are looking to drink less. To be honest, I love wine, but I just don't need to drink as much!
