User Reviews

Overall, reviewers praise Pitaya as a lifesaver and a valuable, easy-to-use tool for ARFID that helps track foods, provides helpful descriptions and photos, and facilitates sharing progress with clinicians and family. Common requests focus on improving the food list organization, adding personal/custom foods, and adding features like optional journaling, reminders, and more nuance for uncertain foods. The app is highly regarded, with room for practical feature improvements.
Pros
  • A lifesaver and highly valuable tool for ARFID, helping users manage and reflect on their food lists.
  • Helpful for collaborating with dietitians and therapists; supports sharing progress and explanations with providers.
  • Easy to use and straightforward to build and manage a growing list of foods.
  • Descriptive entries with photos that help users understand and decide about foods.
  • Ability to export/share lists with others and use GOAL/tracker features to monitor exposure and progress.
Cons
  • Disorganized food list makes it hard to find items; navigation can feel cluttered.
  • Lack of ability to add custom foods not currently listed in the app.
  • Option to mark a food as a journal entry should be optional.
  • Missing reminders/notifications for goals and progress tracking.

Way easier than a spreadsheet to share food preferences with others and catalogue them for myself. Fantastic ARFID resource. On top of it all, there aren’t a million ads in my face; it’s got a clean, unobtrusive interface that focuses on doing what the app is supposed to: incredible. My only complaint is that it’s not in many languages but translation is really hard to do. It could also be nice to have a roulette-style mode where it can serve a random food and then you rate it since scrolling through the list takes a lot of time.

Perfect app/tool to record all my safe/unsafe foods as well as record food intake day by day. Very simple to use, could use a little tutorial guide in the beginning. Bonus- it lets you track food without recording calories or anything else.
