Iconfactory Tapestry

A personal, universal timeline

Overview

Features & Capabilities

Iconfactory Tapestry is a private, universal timeline that weaves posts from Bluesky, Mastodon, Tumblr, RSS feeds, YouTube, podcasts, and more into a single chronological view. No algorithm decides what you see—only the order of time—while you create custom timelines, sync reading position across devices with iCloud, and enjoy a color-coded, spoiler-aware stream.

Stay private by design: content stays on your device, accessibility is built in with VoiceOver and Dynamic Type, and you can extend Tapestry with custom connectors to bring in open data feeds. It also supports quick cross-app actions, light/dark mode, and premium features via auto-renewing subscriptions.

User Reviews

Iconfactory Tapestry shines as a unified, chronological feed across RSS and social networks with a beautiful UI, color-coded timelines, and a useful global mute. However, several reviews note UI/UX issues after updates, recurring bugs, and pricing confusion between free vs. premium. Some users also miss features like posting to Bluesky and a clear way to mark content as read. Overall, strong concept and design, but stability and pricing clarity could improve.
Pros
  • All-in-one unified timeline across RSS and social feeds (Mastodon, Bluesky, YouTube, Reddit, and more).
  • Chronological, non-algorithmic feed that shows posts in real time and in order.
  • Global mute/muffle feature across all feeds to filter keywords and quiet noise.
  • Color-coded feeds by source/type for quick visual scanning (e.g., Bluesky is blue, YouTube red).
  • Beautiful, polished UI with the ability to open posts in the app of your choice and manage multiple feeds.
Cons
  • UI/UX issues after updates: new design can make controls hard to see and settings feel buried or less intuitive.
  • Bugs and reliability concerns: described as very buggy with occasional glitches (e.g., white flash on launch).
  • Pricing confusion: subscription model feels arbitrary and the free version includes many features, making value and boundaries unclear.
  • Some commonly requested features are missing or delayed (e.g., posting to Bluesky from Tapestry, and mark-read/clear consumed items).

For a long time now I’ve learned to be selective in who I follow on social media, and to avoid the algorithm. Tapestry feels like the culmination of these efforts. I added each of the YouTube channels I care about. I connected to one important List from my Mastodon. I connected to my BlueSky where I follow a curated list of retro computing people. And then I added a few RSS feeds for news sites I love. Wow, Tapestry just works! Everything smoothly flows. Updates are FAST. And it’s beautiful. My little social sanctuary of interesting; without the doom. It syncs flawlessly to my iPhone and my iPad and my Mac. Amazing!
