User Reviews

HeartMath is praised for its calming effects and the usefulness of visual heart rate/HRV feedback with guided breathing. Many users report lasting benefits to mood, sleep, and even pain, plus ease of use and quick feedback from the sensor. However, recurring downsides include doubts about readings’ accuracy, frequent app connectivity and signup issues, hardware durability and price concerns, voice/narration quality, and inconsistent coherence tracking across sessions.
Pros
  • Calms the mind and reduces anxiety; many users report increased calm, peace, and improved mood.
  • Visual HRV/coherence feedback with guided practice; helps understanding, motivation, and tracking progress.
  • Effective support for breathwork and mindfulness; provides quick, noticeable coherence during practice.
  • Easy-to-use hardware with reliable feedback and good battery life; devices are praised for reliability and quick results.
  • Positive impact on sleep and, in some cases, pain relief; users report lasting well-being improvements with daily practice.
Cons
  • Sensor readings and coherence accuracy are questioned; some users feel readings don’t reflect breathing changes or seem like a placebo at times.
  • App connectivity and onboarding issues; sign-in problems, sensor pairing failures, and occasional bugs hinder usage.
  • Hardware durability and price/value concerns; crumbling clips, uncomfortable wear, and perceived overpriced hardware.
  • Narration/voice quality and repetitive guided content; some voices are disliked and sessions feel repetitive.
  • Inconsistent coherence tracking; users report coherence values fluctuating or tracker appearing unreliable.

I’ve reached out twice and never received a response

The heartmath app seems helpful and improving my sleep and stress response. Having a device like the coherence plus is nice as using the camera is awkward, but I was disappointed that the coherence plus goes on the ear. It seems like maybe it’s a good idea since it can see through both sides of the earlobe but sometimes it seems it’s not seated right and I adjust it a few times and my coherence score jumps. Wish it could just use my other devices like Apple Watch, Oura ring or something else, especially so I could have it with me anywhere. Not really sure I trust the coherence plus. Sometimes it seems to be good. Other times questionable.

I started my HeartMath sessions over a year ago. After a violent fall interrupted my life I lost sight of it to focus on rehab. But this morning I felt a strong intuition to return to it in my constellation of inner work and breath work as I have been pushing so hard on myself to regain my full body constitution and found the peace I so need at this time.
