2026-08-27	Jo*****	This app is everything I was looking for in order to play music and short videos on my Apple Watch without being tied to a streaming service. The files are stored right on the watch’s memory so that you aren’t tethered to your phone. Using Google Drive I was able to upload my favorite files to the Watch Player app without any issues. Only encountered one small issue on the video playback to which the developer’s support was very responsive. And if that wasn’t enough, at four bucks this was the best bargain that I have ever gotten in the Apple Store. No monthly subscription charges, no ads, no nagging pop ups for upgrades. I highly recommend this app without reservations.

2026-07-25	Ra*****	The app works well until it doesn’t and is a bit incoherent. It perpetually says transferring even for tracks transferred. Some tracks just won’t transfer for no given reason or error. Please make a watch version that doesn’t require iPhone and can reliably transfer from a local network drive that requires authentication. The phone app is the problem and Apple doesn’t allow installation of the Player app by family members to the watch directly.

2026-05-11	Sa*****	It’s basically VLC for Apple Watch it is absolutely incredible. Sorting for Album, playlist and everything! This app is one of the only apps for watch that has local music and video support better then Apple Music and TV and album sorting and sequential listing based on “file name” rather than just. “Track title”. This developer also listens to user feedback. Also this developer makes a great epic epub app for watch too! I would use this instead apples default junk due to the VLC nature of the app. Get this app it’s the best music video player on watchOS.

2026-05-03	Er*****	I’m trying to transfer a 500MB video from ios photos app, and it never transfers to the watch, even when the loading circle stops, nothing shows on the watch. Even using the compression function to get it down to less than 200MB, the video still will not transfer to the watch, even after 48 hours. Transferring the same file via a Mac through the files interface for an iphone in finder, does work.

2026-01-14	Ga*****	Best $4 ever spent. One of, if not, the only app out there that allows playback of both music AND video through the watch speakers. The best part? It supports watch OS 8! Meaning that even the older watches get to benefit from this. Thank you! This truly changes the game for me when it comes to listening to music

2025-11-22	Ap*****	Update months later: I still love this app! I have lots of music on my watch. Couldn’t be happier. I really dislike having to add mp3s to the Apple Music app then transfer them to the music app on the watch. Simply too many steps. This Player for Watch app is amazing game changer. I can transfer music from my Dropbox and google drive to the app, then let the app move it to my watch. Transfer is fast and stable. The app on the watch is simple and has big buttons to hit while exercising. It also integrates with the workout app on the watch—left swipe brings up the music player and the controls there will change songs playing on this app. I haven’t tested the video yet. Overall I love this app, best money I’ve spent on a watch app. ONE TIP: if the app on the phone doesn’t sync with the watch, restart both the phone and the watch, and syncing will happen.
