Pros
- Not pay-to-win with balanced gem usage and captain progression
- Deep strategic roguelite combat with a wide variety of pirate builds and classes
- Casual-friendly gameplay that fits short play sessions
- Striking art style and unique character designs
- Strong potential for future content and updates that could add long-term progression
Cons
- Sign-in problems and progress loss / cross-device save syncing
- RNG-based combat can be frustrating due to high accuracy by enemies and frequent misses
- Onboarding and UI UX friction, including forced taps and non-intuitive tutorials
- Daily play limit that restricts sessions to only a few minutes
- Lack of localization, especially no Chinese language support

It wouldn’t even be a problem if it was easier to sign back in. So many other negative reviews on here are people who straight up thought their save got erased.

I've been enjoying this game quite a bit and having a lot of fun but there is one issue I have with the game: Unlocking new captains.
Each captain costs 10 gems, and 10 gems costs $13 US dollars. It's important to mention that you can get new captains without paying by playing matches and getting good scores, however, after the first 5 captain unlocks the progression for the next captain unlock slows down dramatically. Even when I get a fantastic score it still hardly counts for the progression. It's not that 5 captains is too few, but when you consider the total of 23 captains it does make me wish for more.
I completely understand that this is a small indie dev team, perhaps even one person, who needs to make a living. I get that. However, I think it's fairly reasonable to say $13 is too much for a single captain, especially when there's ADs after every in-game day of battles (which is 2-3 battles).
TLDR: Very fun, but expect low variety in captains (starting unit) unless you are willing to pay $13 for each (or less if you bulk buy). Still would recommend.
