User Reviews

IP Scanner is praised for solid device discovery with easy naming, cross-platform Apple device support, and a straightforward one-time purchase. Users also value quick network snapshots and responsive support. Major downsides are recurring crashes after updates, paywall/trial barriers that hinder evaluation, and a lack of advanced tools and documentation. Overall, it’s favored by users who want reliable device cataloging and a simple purchase, but reliability and feature gaps deter new users.
Pros
  • Excellent device discovery with easy-to-assign names and icons for all devices on the network.
  • Cross-platform compatibility across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
  • One-time price with no ongoing subscriptions.
  • Quick, recognizable network overview with strong drill-down capabilities.
  • Responsive support and rapid updates.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and instability after updates (across Mac and iOS).
  • Trial and pricing friction: upfront paywall, limited ability to evaluate before purchase, and confusing trial flow.
  • Missing advanced tools (Trace Route, WhoIS) and limited usage documentation.

Seriously… Now you limit to 28 the number of devices your freebee scans? I’m removing it from my system to avoid frustrations.

I am so glad I got this - found a little sneaky little computer that a programmer had changing IPs every minute to hide the thing. Exported a few scans to a spreadsheet and did a compare for each row and discovered it. Got my lunch paid for.
