User Reviews

Users praise Recipe Gallery for its ease of use, fast search, and strong organization (bookmarks, large collections, notes/photos) with solid cloud sync and export/share features. However, multiple reviews cite reliability problems opening recipes, slow loading, and data access issues, compounded by a shift to a subscription model that blocks core functions. Privacy concerns and mixed support experiences also recur. Overall, the app is valued for managing recipes, but reliability, pricing changes, and privacy practices are the primary negatives.
Pros
  • Easy to use with intuitive categories and fast search
  • Strong organization features: bookmarking/saving, large recipe collections, notes, and photos
  • Cloud/iCloud sync across devices for continuity and backup
  • Web import/export capabilities: permanent copies, printing/PDF sharing, and source linking
  • Responsive customer support and overall reliability (prior to recent changes)
Cons
  • Frequent recipe opening/loading failures and slow performance (loading spinners, errors, timeouts)
  • Major shift to a subscription model that gates core functionality (adding/saving recipes) for existing users
  • Occasional data loss or access issues tied to updates and syncing (recipes not opening or disappearing)
  • iCloud syncing issues reported alongside data problems and performance instability
  • Privacy concerns about tracking and data sharing with perceived lack of responsiveness from the company

This used to be the best app for recipes available. But since you updated to the new and boring mono color icon performance has gone to “h”. It is taking forever to pull up saved recipes, if at all. Performance has slowed to a crawl and what is with the “subscription”. For all I know once I purchased this years ago it was mine and it worked perfectly. Don’t know what you are up to but I can no longer recommend this as a useful or quality app.

I’ve used Recipe Gallery for a number of years now and can say without reservation this is among my most used apps. It is easy to copy and paste recipes from the internet including screenshot images of dishes. When using a recipe I set up my iPad open to Recipe Gallery as I cook. So handy.

I’ve used it for years and it’s so useful! It’s gotten better as time has passed.
