The all new Character Writer has been a long time in development. It was originally born out of the frustration normally produced by attempting to compose technical reports on the iPad, which previously required special characters to be copied and pasted individually from a webpage.

Will not permit me to use the letter “P” or most selections on the right side of keypad. Guess I’m out .99!

I love the slick design of the Character Keyboard, right down to the colors. But the lack of options -- and the lack of direction and guidance -- is sometimes glaring. The keyboard also does not seem to support other keyboard standards such as capitalization, spacing rules and what we've come to expect from spellcheck. Even with all of that being said, ¨Character Keyboard¨ ranks among my favorite. I love the flexibility it gives me in a world where ~ inexplicably ~ bold, italics, & underline no longer apply. I am a writer by trade, and I like apps/programs that allow for full expression.
