User Reviews

Users broadly view The Asheville App as a useful channel to report city problems and engage with local government, with many praising fast responses and overall potential. However, recurring issues include app instability (crashes, slow uploads), and tickets being marked complete without follow-up or resolution. Updates sometimes hinder usability. The app has strong potential but requires reliability improvements and more consistent city follow-through.
Pros
  • Useful for reporting city issues (potholes, leaks, etc.) to the city.
  • Fast response after submitting issues.
  • Facilitates strong citizen–government interaction and engagement.
  • Shows potential for growth with more features (maps, payments, etc.).
Cons
  • Tickets are often closed as complete without real resolution or follow-up.
  • App is frequently buggy or unstable: crashes, freezing, and media upload failures.
  • Experience is inconsistent: some users see fast responses while others report no action or repeated issues.

Displays “sending” when I open the app and I can no longer submit requests at all.

There’s a steep learning curve for this App but once you get the hang of it it’s very useful for reporting water leaks, potholes and a host of urban ills. The response time after you submit an issue is very fast. Same say to within 48 hours for repairing potholes and leaks. You cannot get a response that quickly by calling the city directly.

This app has historically been pretty reliable but a few of the recent updates have complicated its functionality unnecessarily. Most recently, there’s been “required information” features added to the request submission process (for pothole repairs, for example). The problem is that there is nowhere to actually submit that required information and therefore submissions can’t be made 🧠🧠🧠
