Features & Capabilities

Army Leader Book is a productivity tool designed for Army leaders to care for Soldiers more effectively. It helps you organize Soldier data—counseling dates, APFT/ACFT scores, medical profiles, vehicle licensing, weapon qualifications, and birthdays and anniversaries—so you can act quickly in the field.

The app supports PDF export of Soldier data for binders, tracks upcoming evaluations, ETS, and schools, and keeps key references at your fingertips, including FM counseling excerpts, the suicide prevention ACE card, heat casualty guidance, and a confidential helpline. It runs offline for most features and is free to download with optional in-app purchases to manage more than four Soldiers; the References section remains free.

User Reviews

Users praise Army Leader Book as a replacement for hard-copy leader books, centralizing data, saving time, and aiding accountability. They value per-soldier document storage and key sections (DEROS, deployments, awards). However, recurring issues include lack of cross-device syncing, no desktop/online version, difficulty exporting to paper, privacy concerns with medical data on personal devices, and slow updates. The app is seen as essential and field-ready, but modernization and better cross-platform support are frequently requested.
Pros
  • Replaces hard-copy leaders books by centralizing all soldier data in one place.
  • Saves time and improves accountability and next-step planning for subordinates.
  • Per-soldier document management (counselings, MEDPROS, SGLV, LES) and PDF attachments.
  • Widely used and field-ready; described as a game changer in the field.
  • Includes valuable sections like DEROS, deployment history, and awards for streamlined record-keeping.
Cons
  • Lack of cross-device syncing and cross-unit sharing; data does not transfer between phone and tablet or between leaders without a syncing solution.
  • No desktop/online version; Mac/PC support is lacking; limited cross-platform compatibility.
  • Difficulty exporting to paper/binder; users want printable reports or binder-ready formats.
  • Privacy concerns about storing medical/PII data (MEDPROS, etc.) on personal devices.
  • Slow update cadence; long gaps between updates raise concerns about ongoing maintenance.

It would be grateful if the AFT was added to this and it had iCloud capabilities to back up everything up as well to upload my SM’s documents and counselings along with licences, weapons, aft cards, & Ht/wt cards.

Would be great to have an update for the AFT and a medical section that shows if the SM is green red or amber with dates
