User Reviews

Summary: The PBSC app is largely criticized for billing issues, unreliability, and inaccurate station data. Users report unexpected charges, unclear pricing, and refund difficulties. The app suffers from bugs and login problems, and station status often misleads about availability. The UI is confusing, especially around network switching, and bike maintenance varies (heavy bikes, drum brakes, issues). A minority note occasional reasonable pricing or functioning, but the overall sentiment is negative.
Pros
  • Some users find pricing options like short-duration passes appealing in certain locations.
  • In some cases the app functions as expected and helps locate/unlock bikes, with occasional positive experiences depending on location.
Cons
  • Billing and pricing confusion leading to unexpected charges, including per-minute fees and difficult refunds.
  • Widespread app reliability issues: errors, frequent password/login prompts, resets, and crashes.
  • Docking/availability data is inaccurate: stations show full/empty incorrectly, nearby unlocks fail, and docks can be down.
  • Clunky, non-intuitive UI and network switching: confusing interface, banner-based network selector, and maps that are often blank or slow.
  • Bike quality and maintenance concerns: heavy bikes with drum brakes, broken seats, and gear issues.

It’s like using the internet in 1995. You have to fill out a ton of different form Fields none of which will auto fill and then manually type in a credit card. No Apple Pay no Google pay no Shopify. The time it took me to rent a bike, my other friends walked and got there before me.

There are almost no stations that work in Honolulu. The ones that do work are almost always empty and if there are bikes they are unusable and need repairs. There was one customer service rep who was friendly, although still unhelpful. The rest were very grumpy everytime I called.
