User Reviews

Users praise Pocket Earth Maps for strong offline maps, rich POIs with wiki data, and solid offline routing, making it travel-friendly. However, recurring issues include app crashes, UX/UI usability concerns, and pricing/marketing confusion around offline map downloads. Overall, it’s a powerful offline mapping tool for travelers, but stability and clarity in the UI and pricing would enhance the experience.
Pros
  • Strong offline maps: downloadable maps for offline use, enabling navigation without cell service.
  • Rich POIs with wiki data and notes: points of interest, Wikipedia data, what3words, and the ability to save favorites and color-code markers.
  • Effective offline route planning and navigation: ability to plan, save routes, and navigate offline.
  • Worldwide coverage and travel-friendly data: works well across many regions and is especially useful for travelers.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes: app crashes on startup or during use.
  • UX/UI and usability issues: awkward or unclear interface, limited instructions, and navigation/search challenges.
  • Pricing/marketing concerns around offline maps: complaints about having to pay or misrepresented map sizes for offline downloads.
Recent reviews
If the marketing is saying small map sizes and when reviewing download says 2.2 GB but cannot download till purchased. Download then inflates to over 3X its download size after purchase then that is misleading. If your download need to decompress 3X state it in on the app and in your marketing.

Used all over the world. Shows points of interest with Wiki info, tagged spots for reference, etc. Highly recommend.

I like a lot of the features of this app, but one of the real problems for me is that it doesn’t seem to sync like it promises to between Apple devices. When I travel I use both my iPhone and my iPad , and they need to be able to sync with one another. They claim to do this, but when I Google it on the Internet apparently it’s been a problem for several years.
