User Reviews
Pros
- Built-in media player for NAS/remote media, reducing the need for separate apps.
- Excellent integration with the iOS Files app and acts as a storage target for easy file moves.
- Strong cross-platform access with SMB/NAS/SFTP for flexible remote file management.
- Longstanding, reliable tool that many users rely on for years.
- Good accessibility support (VoiceOver works well for visually impaired users).
Cons
- Post-update instability: MPEG video playback breaks, app crashes, and connectivity to servers can fail.
- Inability to access local iPhone storage (On My iPhone) and reliance on the Files app for access.
- Frequent NAS/server connection timeouts and need to recreate profiles or re-connect.
- UI/UX regressions after updates: moved video progress bar and hard-to-find server commands, plus CarPlay/Apple Watch controls broken.
- Perceived bloated/slow/clunky interface.

The UI doesn’t act the way you’d expect based on other iOS apps. I’ve used this for years but the UI is so bad I’m amazed this was even approved
Edit: your little video player is awful. Why aren’t you using Apple’s controls? Double tapping on images also doesn’t work half the time as it recognizes it as two quick single taps. Literally no other iOS app I’ve ever used does this. I’m actually amazed you managed to code something this awful on an iPhone. Hopefully that clears up your concerns about how terrible your UI is.
Let’s not forget about how the UI comes up simply if you rotate the device. Did I ask for that to happen, or did I simply want to rotate my orientation? Now I’m having to tap again for the garbage UI to disappear, and the timing of this also doesn’t line up with Apple’s systemwide standard. So frequently I tap while it’s actively going away, which means I have to tap AGAIN. The fact that you don’t know this makes me wonder if you even use your own app?
So to answer your question, what kind of UI do I like? A good one that functions as intended.
Do better.

Features I’ve relied on, such as save photo to phone, have been removed with recent updates. Many things that were UI based are now hidden for a “cleaner” design, destroying the usability. Time to look for an alternative.
Update: Your moving the button to the share sheet is the problem, there’s more steps introduced for a feature that was originally not hidden in a menu.
