User Reviews

The reviews praise the app for accessible, current issues, strong writing, and live links that aid genealogical research. However, persistent reliability problems with downloads and offline access, a magazine-like experience that feels diluted in the app, subscription glitches, lack of landscape mode, and price concerns significantly detract from user satisfaction.
Pros
  • Easy to use and readable interface.
  • Current edition available promptly, with overseas option and cost savings.
  • High-quality, well-written genealogy and history content.
  • Live, clickable references/links within articles.
  • Valuable resource for genealogists with practical tips and historical context.
Cons
  • Downloads and offline access are unreliable; back issues often don't download; downloads stop mid-way.
  • Content in the app often feels like a collection of web articles rather than a magazine; full articles missing.
  • Subscription management issues (auto-renew stops; white screen after paying; access problems).
  • No landscape orientation support.
  • Price/value concerns; $4.99 price for online access is considered too high by some users.

I had a automatic subscription then it seemed to stop. I downloaded the newest issue and I was like something is wrong. This was one of my favorite magazines in print and online. It is popular that the issues at Barnes and noble go fast so I relied on the online version. I feel like I am not getting the magazine in the new app and the content is set up in that I feeling that I am not getting the whole article. What a disappointment. I will have to take my chances at the store. Online is not worth $4.99.
