User Reviews

Summary: The reviews indicate that iRig Recorder LE suffers from serious reliability problems. The most-commonly mentioned issues are tempo distortion (audio plays back sped up or slowed), crashes and instability, and compatibility problems with iOS 16/USB-C devices. Users frequently note paywall gating for basic features and export options, plus frustrating UX problems like deleting files and navigation. A minority reports that the free version offers useful metering and that the basic editing tools work when the app is functioning, and a few users say hardware integration with iRig can work as expected.
Pros
  • Free version includes useful audio input level metering (and Audiobus input).
  • Paid audio editing features are effective when the app is functioning.
  • Historically, the app and iRig hardware worked smoothly for basic recording and livestreaming.
Cons
  • Tempo distortion: recordings often play back at double speed or sped up, with occasional static.
  • Crashes and unreliability: the app frequently crashes or stops recording, compromising sessions.
  • Compatibility issues with iOS 16 and newer devices (USB-C recognition and monitoring problems, and other device compatibility problems).
  • Paywalls and upcharges: basic tools and export options are gated behind paid features, reducing value for users who bought the hardware.
  • UX/navigation and data-management problems: difficulty deleting recordings and navigating the app, with risk of data loss from interruptions.

I upgraded my phone to an iPhone 16 Pro Max. It no longer records good anymore. And it doesn’t pick up other sounds. When it was the old iPhone lightning cable everything works perfect but now that it’s USB-C it says it’s headphones. I’ve tried every possible solution and can’t find anything online either.

Had this app for years. This app used to be great for basic voice recording and optimizing volume. Now the recordings sound like a slow robot voice. Latest recording is all static.
