Review summary

Users largely praise Daily Sentinel’s Apple app for its ease of use, readability, and strong local coverage; many highlight the credible reporting, familiar print-like experience, and the ability to read on the go with the same layout and larger-font options. However, several reviews raise concerns about editorial balance and perceived bias, and a subset mention usability quirks such as accidental screen navigation or navigation issues. Requests for features like dark mode and better proofreading are also noted, indicating room for improvement while the app remains a reliable local news source.
Pros
  • Easy to use and navigate; readable with a consistent layout
  • Strong local coverage and community information (government updates, events, calendars)
  • Reliable, credible journalism with thoughtful editorials
  • Portability and on-the-go access with the same layout and option to enlarge fonts
  • Paper-like experience that emulates print while providing useful electronic features
Cons
  • Perceived editorial bias and lack of balance in coverage; desire for more even representation of viewpoints
  • Mixed usability issues: occasional navigation/interaction glitches and some users finding the app not consistently smooth

2025-08-05 🌵***** This paper helps me know what the City government is doing. Lets the citizens express what their thinking is on local and national issues. Gives good coverage about local events. The sports coverage is through. The weekly comments about foods offered in various local restaurants is wonderful.

2025-06-29 Or***** I have appreciated The Daily Sentinel’s drive to remain a viable news organization on the Western Slope. Well done Daily Sentinel! Having lived here, matured professionally, owned a business and retired I have read the paper nearly daily. I haven’t always agreed but I have paused and considered alternatives. I have appreciated the levelheaded nature of the reporting and editorials! Thank you!

2025-05-15 Bi***** My friend, Gordon, has these questions when catching up socially: What are the highlights, and what are the "lowlights?" For me, the highlights are the community calendar and the reporting. I can find places to go for good food, hiking, biking, music. The local news reporting is good information on what it covers. Now for the lowlights: AP news stories are predictably slanted Left, no pretense of standard reporting. The columnists are nearly all Washington-Post Lefty. I pay a lot of money to be told how bad the Right is. But I renewed!
