User Reviews

Overall, GarageBand is seen as a powerful, accessible tool for making music and creating ringtones, with a large instrument library and positive reception from users. The top positives include ease of use for producing tracks and the ability to export ringtones from projects. The most mentioned downsides are stability and performance issues (crashes, lag, and latency), recording/track-management problems when layering multiple parts, and gaps in instrument options (desire for more realistic sounds like harp or brass) and certain limits (8-bar default, compatibility with older iPadOS versions).
Pros
  • Powerful, accessible music creation tool.
  • Ringtone creation/export from GarageBand projects.
  • Large instrument library with diverse sounds.
  • Easy to use and suitable for beginners, with quick results.
Cons
  • Stability and performance issues: crashes, lag, and latency.
  • Recording/track-management problems when layering multiple parts; difficulty recording all elements together.
  • Gaps in instrument options; desire for more realistic sounds (e.g., harp or brass) and some sounds missing or behind purchases.
  • Bar/length limitations and import/export constraints (default 8 bars; cannot easily expand).
  • Compatibility issues with older iPadOS versions and timing/latency issues after updates.

I use a lot of MIDIs, especially old ones, as bases for covers of songs. A lot of the time, drums import as keyboards or the other way around. Like other midi tools, you should be able to choose exactly what instrument each track imports as, and there should be support for custom drum sets and for the sake of music, there needs to be able to be tempo changes! So many MIDIs have it and it comes across as slowness or extra speed in midi tracks, and you can only do 2x or 1/2 speed or more! I love this DAW, but these are very important problems! Please fix this! And maybe adding more track editing features using keyframes- like note slide, and tempo, and volume, and of course, panning!

GarageBand is good and all but it glitches often. I also feel like there could be some improvements.

Stop intentionally not updating this app for my phone. I think it’s a better app then the clash of clans app I haven’t play since 2014
