Features & Capabilities

The NissanConnect EV & Services app is designed for Nissan LEAF owners (Model Year 2018-2025). It lets you manage charging, battery status, climate controls, and other features from your mobile device, and you can personalize the app dashboard to fit your routine.

A subscription is required to access NissanConnect EV & Services, and it is complimentary for the first three years of ownership. Supported features include Remote Start Charge, Remote Battery Status, Remote Climate Control On/Off, Climate Control Timer, Plug-in Reminder Notification, Charge Complete Notification, My Car Finder, Remote Door Lock/Unlock, Remote Horn & Lights, Curfew, Boundary and Speed alerts, and more. A security PIN protects critical remote actions, and there are notes about compatibility and 3G network discontinuation for older LEAF models. Support is available via the Nissan Owners site and Customer Support channels.

User Reviews

Users largely report that NissanConnect EV is plagued by login persistence issues, reliability problems, and update/OS compatibility challenges. These major cons are compounded by limited in-app charging controls. A few users do note positive features like remote battery status and climate preconditioning, but overall the app’s usability is hampered by frequent logins, slow performance, and update loops.
Pros
  • Remote battery status monitoring
  • Remote climate control scheduling/preconditioning
  • Ability to start charging remotely
Cons
  • Frequent login persistence failures (app logs out or requires re-login)
  • Poor reliability and performance (lag, glitches, not refreshing)
  • OS/device compatibility and update issues (requires latest iOS, not compatible with older devices, forced update loops)
  • Limited in-app charging controls (can’t stop charging by percentage, no easy review/edit of charging timers)
  • Account/VIN setup and sign-in problems (VIN sign-up obstacles, invalid credentials)
Recent reviews
This app has never worked well or really had that much functionality. Recently it glitched and got stuck so that it won’t refresh to show the actual status of the car. After much time with tech support, they say we have to bring it into the dealer to get it reset. Which is not really how apps work. Overall, it’s more of a detriment than an asset to our experience owning a Leaf. I hope Nissan invests in upgrading soon.
