Personal Precipitation Prediction for your Pocket!

• Should I hang the washing on the line, or wait for those clouds to pass? • Do I take an umbrella on my walk? Can I get home without getting wet? • Should I start this painting job? Is it worth laying the concrete today, or it it just going to rain? • Can I pick the kids up from school without getting wet on the way home? • Should we get the covers ready for the cricket pitch? • When should we pit to change to wet tyres? • Should I wait inside for the rain to stop, or has it set in? • Is that rain heading my way, or away? • Play the back nine or head straight to the nineteenth hole?

Rainspotting will help you answer these types of questions.

What it does

Rainspotting will tell you if there is any rain approaching your selected location or nearby, its direction, when it is expected to start, and how long it is expected to last. If you're really keen, you can even view the intensity profile of any approaching rain to draw your own conclusions. Rainspotting can also send notification alerts when rain is approaching (upgrade required).

Coverage

Rainspotting has coverage for most of Australia, USA, Puerto Rico and Guam.

Accuracy

While Rainspotting is remarkably accurate, the weather is notoriously unpredictable, and there is always room for improvement. You can help to improve Rainspotting's accuracy by providing feedback. Rainspotting should not be relied on to make life or death decisions, to guide missiles, to cool nuclear reactors, or in any other situation where getting rained on (or not) unexpectedly would cause frustration, dismay, discomfort, injury, fear, anger, hate, suffering, or a negative rating.

Settings

Rainspotting allows you to change the distance for finding nearby rain, the units used for the approaching rain speed, and specify whether to use the same colours that the source meteorological service uses for the profile chart.

Requirements

Rainspotting requires an Internet connection, and when requested, makes use of your device's location services to determine your current location. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Rainspotting is ad supported to keep it free - ads can be removed and additional features added with an in-app upgrade.

Privacy

Rainspotting makes use of secure servers to perform the complex computations, which saves your device's battery, and also means that the details of the selected location are sent to the server for processing. Rainspotting may also send service usage information in order to ensure coverage for popular areas and to improve the quality of the service. Details of the selected location may be used to provide more relevant ads.

Feedback and Contact

Feedback is always welcome, and can be sent using the feedback area of the application, or by simply sending email to feedback@rainspotting.com.

I bought this app several years ago, and it is a very good app, and the only one of it’s type.I am working on a movie, and it is vitally important to know when rain is going to stop for filming. This app has been useful for many years in that regards.Since needing it again this week, it comes back saying no data available. I want to rate this five stars, but it seems the developers are abandoning it???

So far so good. I paid for the upgrade. 3.99 is a small price to pay in my line of work to know if rain is headed my way or not. If people want something free watch the weather in the morning. How can you expect the best top notch service from an app but don't want to pay anything for it ? Try putting free food in your refrigerator, free gas in your car, try using free wifi, try some free housing - then tell me how much of it was just awesome and how much of it you loved. It's 3.99 people. Come on.

Worst $3.99 I ever spent! Wish I could get a refund! It said it was raining and would rain for 20 more minutes when there was no rain in sight And vice-versa it has said it was sunny when it was raining hard!
