Features & Capabilities

iMass is a Chrome extension that makes the Traditional Catholic Mass accessible worldwide. It streams live Masses in the Extraordinary Form (FSSP), offers on-demand Mass, and provides a built-in Missal, Breviary, and Rituale to follow along.

The iMass Map is user-driven and continually updated to show Latin Mass locations with times and driving directions. Note that viewing Mass on iMass does not fulfill the Sunday obligation, but it offers a way to unite with the Mass when attendance isn't possible.

User Reviews

Users praise iMass for convenient daily Divine Office access, travel-friendly design, and well-organized, bilingual content. However, repeated concerns show iOS lags behind Android in feature parity (notably removal of the daily Missal/monastic breviary in updates), plus broader stability and compatibility issues on older devices. Accessibility and navigation problems—tiny fonts, non-adjustable sizing, and broken navigation or links—also recur. A key request is offline access for propers. Overall, the app is valued for content and portability, but stability, iOS parity, and usability improvements are consistently needed.
Pros
  • Very portable and convenient for daily Divine Office use, making it easy to carry and pray on the go.
  • Rich, organized content with bilingual (Latin/English) display that helps navigate the Missal and Breviary.
  • Broad liturgical resources (Missal, Breviary, Divine Office) and it's free to use.
  • Travel-friendly alternative to carrying physical books.
Cons
  • iOS parity gaps: updates removed or lag behind Android, with features like the monastic breviary and daily Missal not available on iOS.
  • Stability/compatibility problems on older devices and iOS versions (e.g., iPhone 8); some updates cause loading issues.
  • Poor readability due to tiny font sizes and lack of effective font scaling on iPhone/iPad.
  • Navigation/UX issues: switching languages resets to the beginning, no easy way back to Home, and several links within the missal don't work.
  • Offline access for propers is lacking; users want offline downloads.

That is the primary reason I purchased this app. Why remove that option??

The new version is horrible, unable to follow the missal, it’s not user friendly. What’s bothersome is there no options between the different versions. So we no longer use the app.
