iMissal Catholic is the #1 Catholic app for Mass readings and the Lectionary. It provides offline access to the complete Missal, a fully color-coded liturgical calendar (1990–2050), and readings for every day of the year, with official translations approved for U.S. Mass. Audio is available for recent dates, and the content is Imprimatur-approved.

The app also includes Our Daily Bread daily verses, more than 100 prayers, favorites, search, and the ability to share verses or prayers. Perfect for Lectors, RCIA participants, and anyone seeking a portable Catholic reference.

User Reviews

iMissal Catholic remains a valuable, offline-friendly source for daily Mass readings and prayers, with no ads and a trusted history. Users praise its reliability for following Mass and daily devotion, including Saint of the Day add-ons. However, multiple reviews report recurring issues after updates: missing mass sections and Eucharistic prayers, broken navigation (dropdowns, switching prayers), and persistent audio outages. Some users also note slow or unresponsive developer support. Overall, it’s a trusted tool that needs consistent maintenance to fix audio and feature gaps introduced by updates.
Pros
  • Offline access to readings and liturgy without internet
  • Helpful for following Mass and daily prayers; trusted daily readings
  • Ad-free, distraction-free reading experience
  • Long-standing, reliable resource with updates that add polish while retaining core features
Cons
  • Audio not working / intermittent audio outages for extended periods
  • Updates remove features or break functionality (missing Eucharistic Prayers, antiphons; cannot switch prayers)
  • UI/navigation issues after updates (larger icons, non-working dropdowns, hidden status bar, cross-device compatibility)
  • Slow or unresponsive developer support / lack of feedback mechanism

Prior to the updates in the last month, each Sunday mass order provided the most likely Eucharistic Prayer to be used for the mass, but the other three were still available. After the updates, only the most likely Eucharistic Prayer is provided along with the following note, “Below is the Eucharistic Prayer typically said for this Mass, however, the Priest has the option to chose another.” This makes the missal much less useful, since I purchased app so that I had all four Eucharistic Prayers available. That is no longer the case, so the app is largely useless to me. It’s very disappointing that the “update” has ruined the app.

Love this app. However today was my first time staying home sick while using the app to follow along with mass livestream. There were several parts of the mass that were missing, including responses. I encourage the developers to follow along with mass to discover all that’s missing, including what the priest is saying and congregation responses. Previous version of app was 5 stars. … Also, since all churches are required to pray for vocations at the end of mass, please consider adding that prayer at the end of mass, so participation is easy. It takes too long to find it in my photos (unless I think ahead before mass and remember to pull it up first).

Recent update broke things, I contacted the developers several times by e-mail and FB I never got an answer; very frustrating being totally ignored. Since iMissal v5.1 (6) in both iOS 18.7.7 and 26.4.x I have noticed: 1) The option "Full version (No Notes)" stopped displaying the section “Eucharist Prayer x”. While the "Full version (with Notes)" displays it correctly the "Full version (No Notes)" is more useful for those following mass without having the notes cluttering the whole text. The now missing "Eucharist Prayer x" in the “No notes” option” is very noticeable. 2) Both, "Full version (No Notes)" and "Full version (With Notes)"stopped letting the user switch between the different "Eucharist Prayer I, II, III, IV". Previous version allowed this by sweeping top down to choose the Eucharist Prayer when needing a number different than the default. This is very useful as most priests sometimes depart from the default. 3) now the updated app removes/hides the Status Bar blocking valuable information from the phone. Sad to see a sloppy update just to make the app work on iOS 26 even when breaking functionality.
