User Reviews

User reviews show the Denver Post app delivers valuable Colorado-focused news and local sports content, and is used by loyal subscribers. However, repeated friction points harm usability: forced updates, persistent ad interruptions for paying users, and removal of iPad landscape mode. Additional issues include frequent login prompts and content access problems (blocked articles, homepage redirects). Accessibility concerns are noted by visually impaired users. Overall, strong content value is offset by significant usability and UX obstacles that drive frustration.
Pros
  • Strong local journalism and Colorado-focused coverage, including local sports.
  • Generally functional for many users who access Denver Post content through the app.
  • Loyal, long-time subscribers value having the Denver Post available in the mobile app.
Cons
  • Forced app updates that lock users out or require frequent updating.
  • Ad-heavy experience with video ads and overlays, even for paying subscribers.
  • Removal of landscape mode on iPad and lack of landscape support reduces usability for keyboard users.
  • Frequent login requirements and annoying login prompts that disrupt reading flow.
  • Content access and navigation problems, including links redirecting to the homepage or content blocked behind prompts.

I have spent years trying to customize the type of articles I wish to receive and those I do not waste my time on. The Denver Post seems unconcerned or arrogantly dismissive of my several requests did not waste my life trying to blow past articles I have absolutely no interest in e.g. sports.

I click on a link and it only goes to the homepage. This is a recent development.
