User Reviews

iRhino 3D is a powerful mobile bridge to Rhino, strong for quick space mapping, floor plans, and on-site reviews, with good educator and client-use appeal. However, it suffers from stability issues, limited local file access (no iCloud) and compatibility gaps with newer Rhino formats, plus missing measurement tools in markup. These repeated problems hinder daily work and indicate the app needs substantial updates to reach its full potential.
Pros
  • Quickly map spaces and create floor plans; strong integration with Rhino for desktop
  • More than a viewer; functional field tool for capturing spaces/objects and exporting to Rhino; useful for education
  • On-the-go access to Rhino files on iPhone/iPad; ideal for presenting or reviewing away from a computer
  • Scans well with a bounding box feature for small objects
  • Active updates and improvements (e.g., hot fixes) that enhance usability
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and instability with scans, especially large files or room scans; progress can be lost
  • No local file opening; must rely on cloud services (Google Drive/Dropbox); no iCloud Drive support; compatibility issues with newer Rhino formats (V6/V7)
  • Markup mode lacks precise measurement/dimensioning tools; cannot pull dimensions like Rhino
  • Performance/UX issues in practice (slow zoom/pan, occasional crashes with heavy data); some features missing or unreliable
  • Overall need for major updates and feature completeness to meet mobile workflow needs (file thumbnails, display options, better export/import)
Recent reviews
iRhino3D is fantastic for quickly mapping spaces as a starting point for 3D modeling or creating a floor plan. This is so huge and integrates smoothly with Rhino for desktop. This app is so much more than a simple 3D viewer and I think McNeel nailed it.

As an educator, this app it’s really functional to show the students alternative ways to capture a space, an object and then, transfer the information to Rhino.

I use it as a way to create at home without having the need for a computer
