Remokon

Remokon is a wireless controller for OSC (Open Sound Control). Use it with Max, Processing, SuperCollider, or anything else that speaks OSC. Press a button to play a sound, move a slider to change a lighting color — from your iPhone or iPad.

Remokon does nothing on its own: you need a program on the receiving side. Samples for Max and Processing are bundled with the app (Settings > Max Sample Patch / Processing Sample Code). Use the share button to send one to your computer over AirDrop.

■ Controls (102 across four pages)

• Mix: 4 vertical sliders, 1 horizontal slider, 4 toggles
• Pad: 16 push buttons, 4 toggles
• XY: 1 XY slider, 4 toggles
• Grid: 64 mini toggles, 4 toggles

Every control is multi-touch, so you can work several at once. Sliding a finger across toggles and buttons presses each one it passes over.

■ Sensors

The accelerometer (x, y and z at 50 Hz) and shake gestures are sent as OSC.

■ Connection

• Host address, output and input ports, and Device ID
• Find the receiving host over Bonjour
• Save destinations as presets and switch between them
• Send to the whole LAN at once (subnet broadcast)
• Connection status always visible at the top of the screen (indicator color, destination, message counts)
• Tell several iPhones and iPads apart by Device ID

■ Built-in OSC reference

The messages Remokon sends and receives are documented inside the app. Select and copy just the part you need, or export the whole thing as a Markdown file, while you write the receiving side.

■ iPad

Open several windows. Send from each window to a different host, or lay out different pages side by side for the same destination to widen your playing surface.

■ Compatibility

The message format is unchanged from 3.0.3 and earlier. Patches and programs you have already written work as they are.
