The comprehensive WordWeb database includes 285,000 words and phrases; 225,000 sense definitions; 70,000 usage examples; 85,000 pronunciations; plus synonyms, related words, and cross-references to Chambers and Oxford dictionaries. It supports multiple English variants (North American, British, Australian) and offers bookmarks, history, and an intelligent spell-check that suggests correct spellings as you type. An offline audio version is available separately. All features work without an internet connection.

Recent reviews

Gray search and lookup area are now gray and hard to see, too cluttered, icon at top right is off edge of screen. Wish Apple would let users downgrade to more useable version.

Just realized I’ve been using WordWeb for free for 7 years and haven’t left a review! Great app, great UI, great definitions, easy to save bookmarks, it just works. Antony Lewis has made and maintained a high quality app for a long time at no charge.
