Don’t waste your money on a background check. The only reason I joined PetMe is because they gave me a free invite to join (probably because they knew I wasn’t going to pay for the background check) and I wanted to see just how bad it really was since I saw people on Reddit saying so many bad things about this app. I tried emailing their support email for help and they ghosted me. I can’t say I’m surprised though given what a scam this app is. I can see why their subreddit (r/PetMePetSitting) got mass reported and banned. They use shills and astroturfing to trick you into thinking this is a good app. PetMe is genuinely the worst pet caregiver app I’ve ever seen and I’m on multiple pet caregiver apps. Instead of wasting your money on this app, join a legitimate pet caregiver app like Rover and/or Wag! instead. Neither of these apps are perfect, of course, and they do have their flaws, BUT at least you won’t be getting scammed like you would by wasting your money on a background check on PetMe. Edit: Just when I thought this app couldn’t get any worse they sent me an email on 6/23/2026 saying that I had to pay a $299 “penalty fee” aka ransom because I “left booking requests unanswered”. This is completely false, I didn’t receive any booking requests nor did I receive any notifications from PetMe. This app is a scam!
