User Reviews

User feedback on BookWatch is split: positives note a clean, visually focused interface and convenient video summaries that aid quick takeaways, appealing to visual learners and book lovers. However, the majority of reviews highlight significant downsides: automatic yearly billing with unclear warnings and difficult refunds; questionable AI-generated content that often doesn't reflect the books; frequent glitches and performance problems; limited book library; and accessibility gaps like missing captions. Overall, while the app offers strong visuals and ease of use, frequent price and quality issues undermine trust and user satisfaction.
Pros
  • Visually appealing, clean UI with good visuals.
  • Design supports visual learning with clear, readable visuals.
  • Video summaries help users quickly grasp key ideas and identify the next read.
  • Overall enjoyable and convenient to use for book lovers.
Cons
  • Automatic yearly charges after a trial with unclear warnings and difficult refunds.
  • AI-generated content frequently misaligns with the books, with errors and poor quality.
  • Frequent glitches and playback issues (freezes, glitches, missing sound).
  • Accessibility gaps, such as captions not working for deaf users.
  • Limited library selection and perceived low value for the price.

Just signed up. Just spent 5 minutes doing a survey and then they asked me to rate before even using the app. Well here is my honest rating of my use of it so far.

Downloaded this app because I was interested, but I should’ve known that the fiction selection would be steered heavily towards more female-centric interests like Dark Romance and Romantic Comendies. There aren’t any Science Fiction selections so this makes the app basically worthless for me. Wish they would have shown the book offerings prior to making me download to app, sign up for a free trial, and answer a bunch of questions when there are zero offerings of what male readers would actually like. Even the Sports fiction selection is all Sports Romance. Maybe this app is good if you’re a female reader or looking into self-help books, otherwise steer clear.
