Features & Capabilities

The SmartCuffs app is designed to connect to your SmartCuffs 4.0 devices. Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training is a technique in which combines low-intensity exercise under reduced arterial flow conditions. BFR is quantifiably and objectively reducing the amount of blood flow into an extremity by using a specially made medical tourniquet. BFR allows individuals to use low loads yet achieve results similar to high intensity training.

The SmartCuffs 4.0 is the only wireless BFR cuff in the world that contains our TriPressure technology. This allows for 3 types of evidenced-based, research supported BFR (continuous, intermittent, and resting BFR).

User Reviews

Users praise SmartCuffs for rehab and performance gains and a comfortable build, with ongoing software improvements. However, recurring Bluetooth drops, unstable LOP calibration, and broad app reliability issues interrupt workouts. Update-related bugs and occasional device power problems further undermine consistency. Overall, the product offers real rehab and training value, but reliability and software stability remain common pain points.
Pros
  • Strong rehab and strength benefits (notably knee/quad improvements and enhanced performance in training and daily activities).
  • Comfortable, high-quality cuff design with thoughtful 3.0/4.0 improvements.
  • Updates and firmware changes progressively improve reliability and performance.
Cons
  • Frequent Bluetooth disconnects during workouts and trouble staying connected, often requiring recalibration.
  • Unreliable LOP calibration or inability to set LOP manually, with resets when connections drop.
  • App reliability issues including login/connectivity problems, saving sets causing losses, and inconsistent pairing methods.
  • Updates can render the app unusable or introduce new bugs, with long load times.
  • Some units may fail to power on after updates or use.

Right out of the box these cuffs were very difficult to connect. I got errors once they were connected and when they tried to inflate they failed. Pressing the emergency stop button did absolutely nothing. For 900.00 this product should work flawlessly and the construction of these makes me wonder if they will last a year. A user opens the box gets started and immediately has issues. Not a good first impression and a huge let down after spending so much money. I am considering returning these and going to another brand. I was excited to get these now it’s womp womp. Do better guys.

I noticed that this is the brand my Physical Therapist was using so I bought a pair for myself. Nice to have peace of mind that it’s able to adjust to what my body needs as far as the amount of tightness. After 3 weeks, my left knee is getting less and less achy because my left quad has improved so much over that short period of time. I’m also noticing a very quick progression in strength and size there and when I use the arm bands to do push-ups, both in my arms and in my chest. This has revolutionized my martial arts training by helping me get past the weak foundation from my knee and has helped majorly with kata and normal everyday techniques. Because this tech was developed originally in regards to older people, I’ve been able to recommend it to my aging parents to help with some of their muscular problems, to help give them a firmer foundation for everyday life. Great for people who don’t have the time to get to a gym or don’t have access to heavier weights. There are lots of pointers and tools on the SmartTools website for exercises and safety. Thanks SmartTools!

Updated one cuff, plugged in near the others. Worked for a few days now they won’t turn on. Reached out to customer service let’s see what they say - fyi to those thinking about updating
