User Reviews

SubaruConnect is intended as a central remote-control app for Subaru EVs, but it suffers from persistent reliability issues. Users report slow performance, frequent crashes, and repeated logouts; charging status data is often delayed or inaccurate; the Digital Key feature is unreliable or unavailable for many models; multi-user setup breaks for households with multiple drivers; and support and updates appear insufficient amid subscription concerns. Overall, it feels more like a troubled beta than a polished experience.
Pros
  • Remote vehicle controls (lock/unlock, remote start) and climate control in one app
  • Centralized view of basic vehicle data (status, battery, odometer) in one place
  • EV charging status and related data accessible via the app
Cons
  • Very slow, laggy, and unreliable performance with frequent crashes and forced logouts
  • Charging status is not real-time and often inaccurate or delayed, with inconsistent notifications
  • Digital Key feature is flaky or unavailable for many models, causing frustration
  • Multi-user access and vehicle linking are broken, making secondary drivers hard to onboard
  • Support, updates, and communications are poor, with ongoing subscription friction

Why the long press that takes forever? Can we just press once and go? Can you add the ability to stop the commanded actions after? For example, if I turn the hazards and then I want them off after there is no way to do that. Also, can you add the ability to close/open the windows? That was a nice feature I had in my Polestar. And we know the app or the connected services is draining my car’s 12 V battery in an abnormal way. So there are multiple things to fix!

The main issue is that this app frequently causes the 12v battery to die once the car is off, leading to the need for a jump and tow to the dealer. This app essentially makes the car unexpectedly unreliable and there seems to be no official fix in the works, only a service bulletin instructing owners to disconnect from the app, a temporary fix that is just ridiculous. Furthermore I used to use the MySubaru app which was far better in terms of its user experience and reliability.
